Franklin Forst quietly and peacefully sank to his last sleep Wednesday afternoon at 3:30, at the home of his sister, Mrs. Lydia Kennedy, of west Sinclair Street, the end coming after a five days illness with pneumonia.
His condition was not considered as grave until Monday, and although his death had been expected hourly, by near relatives, since that time, yet it came as a great shock.
Franklin Forst, son of George and Elizabeth Forst, was born one mile west of Urbana, July 19, 1854, be being at the time of his death, 60 years, and 10 days of age. He had always resided in Wabash County and for the past eight years had been in resident of this city.
He was united in marriage to Miss Fannie VanDyne and to this union were born four children, three daughters and one son, as follows: Nrs. Nettie Sibett, of Shreveport, Louisiana; Mrs. Edith Mitchell, of Detroit, Mich.; Mrs. Sam Niccum and Ollie Forst, the last two, with their mother, having preceded him to the world beyond.
Several years after the death of his first wife the deceased was united im marrige to Miss Hattie Fisher, who also preceded him in death in October of 1906. To this union no children were born.
Besides the two daughters he is survived by one brother, Reuben Forst, of Andrews; and four sisters, Mrs. Lydia Kennedy, of this city; Mrs. Cordelia Anderson, of Dayton, Ohio; Mrs. Eliza Mikesell, of Frankton, Ind., and Mrs. Sarah Tyer, of Logansport.
The funeral services were Saturday morning at the Kennedy home, although the exact arrangements are not yet completed. Burial will be in the Fisher cemetery northeast of Spikerville.
