Betty Jean Buffington, 67, of Van Buren died Saturday, April 11, 2009, at Riverways Manor Nursing Home in Van Buren.

Mrs. Buffington was born Jan 8 1942, in Van Buren. She was the daughter of the late August and Elsie Lucille (Chilton) Lowe.

She was a longtime resident of Van Buren and a member of South Van Buren General Baptist Church. She was active in phone Ministry and was an Elvis Presley and St. Louis Cardinal's fan. She enjoyed her grandchildren and family.

On Jan. 20, 1962, she married Jim Buffington, whom survives of the home.

Survivors include one son, Anthony Buffington and his wife, Virginia, of Van Buren; one daughter, Ginger Luse of Van Buren; one sister, Evelyn Brooks of Van Buren; three special aunts, Hazel Patterson of Glen Elder, Kan., Dot Lindsey of St. Louis and Ola Chilton of Van Buren; three grandchildren, A. J. Buffington, Madison Brawley and Cora Luse; and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. today at McSpadden Funeral Home in Van Buren. Funeral services will begin at 3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Revs. Dick Murray and Don Black officiating. Burial will be in Kelley Cemetery in Van Buren.
