Mr. Atha was a sales representative for North American Van Lines and was named National Sales Representative of the Year in 1993. He worked several years for National Homes in Lafayette and after that he was a sales representative for All American, /Wilson and Everlast sporting goods companies.
Born in Otterbein on Sept.5, 1933, he grew up here, graduated from Otterbein High School in 1951 and attended Indiana State University, where he was a member of the varsity basketball team.
He had lived in California for the past five years and before that in the Atlanta and Chicago areas. Mr. Atha enjoyed playing basketball, baseball, softball and tennis throughout his life. He also officiated basketball and baseball for several years.
Surviving are four children, Cynthia, Vanessa, Dan and Todd; and two brothers, Dick Atha of Oxford and David Atha of Springfield, Va.; and six grandchildren.
