Obituary, Star, Peekskill, NY, Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1943: Mrs. Mary Tompkins Griffin, a lifelong resident of Oregon, died at her home at 7:15 a.m. today, Mrs. Griffin, the wife of the late James W. Griffin, had been in ill health for a number of months. She was 68 years old. She born in Oregon and was the daughter of the late Cornelius and Anna Minerva Tompkins. Her husband died about ten years ago. Mrs. Griffin was an active member of the Oregon Methodist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Dorothy) Bracken, of Oregon; a son, J. Stanton Griffin, of Mt. Vernon; one brother, Theodore Tompkins, of Oregon, and four grandchildren. Interment will be made in Hillside Cemetery.
