Edward was drafted into the US Army.
Upon arriving in Vietnam 9 March 1967, Edward was assigned to E Company, 4th
Battalion, 12th Infantry, 199th Infantry Brigade, USARV. The 1st Platoon of E Company was on a patrol, when the patrol was engaged by hostile forces, about 10 kilometers east of Saigon. Edward died as a result of gunshot wounds to the body from hostile small arms fire.
Survived by his parents, Eli Kelsey and Marion Clarice Ferguson, and his brother; Robert C Ferguson, all of 17027 Via 8 Tomar, San Lorenzo, California.
