1928-2009

Florence Knight Abney passed away Sunday, April 5, 2009.

She was born on August 16, 1928 in Monroeville, AL, and she had lived here since 1957.

She was a retired seamstress and a dedicated member of Bethel A.M.E. Church.

Her husband, Osborne Abney; parents, Fred and Mary Knight; three brothers, Fred Knight, Jr., Sammie Knight, and Calvin Knight; and one sister, Lucy Kidd, preceded her in death.

Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Sylvia (Tyrone) Lewis and Trina (Carlton) Taylor; four sisters, Marion Pearsoll, Mary (Algia) Johnson, Helen Andrews, and Alberta Robinson; four brothers, Grady (Patricia) Knight, Ellis (Juliette) Knight, Leonard (Linda) Knight, and Kenneth (Sarah) Knight; three grandchildren, Roland Lewis, Carlton Taylor, II, Trina Taylor Walls, and Stephanie Taylor Flowers; two great-grandsons, Curran Flowers, Jr. and Danarius J. Castleberry; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 10, from noon until 9:00 p.m. at Joe Morris and Son Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held Saturday, April 11, at 10:00 a.m., at Bethel A.M.E. Church, 511 Woodland Drive, with Rev. Charles Morris, MD officiating.
Interment will be in Bayview Memorial Park.

Joe Morris and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
