Hugh W. Burleson, son of the late Clyde Burleson and Earlie Gregg Burleson, was born on Oct. 16, 1918 at Bear Creek, Ala. and died on April 6, 2009 in his residence near Dexter at the age of 90.
Mr. Burleson was a member of the Dexter Church of Christ and had done Missionary work through the church since 1994 in the following locations: Guadalcanal, Phillipines, Banuata, Christmas Islands and Figi Islands; a former Elder in the Bernie Church Of Christ; a former farmer, a veteran of the United States Army Medical Corpa serving in World War II and a resident of rural Dexter.
He was united in marriage to Gloria Stephens on Sept. 8, 1949 at Piggott, Ark. Mrs. Burleson survives of the home.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Cindy Burleson of Dexter and Terry and Sherri Burleson of Dexter; by one daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Bruce Jeralds of Orange Park, Fla; by four grandchildren, Cody Burleson of Paragould, Ark., Jessica and Kyle Camp of Mountain Home, Ark., Jason and Michelle Jeralds of Middleburg, Fla.; Claire Burleson of Dexter; and by one great grandson, Jase Jeralds of Middleburg, Fla.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, T. D. Burleson, John Burleson and James Clyde Burleson; by four sisters, Vera Wooldridge, Eva Barksdale, Hattie Mann and Rachel Douglas.
Visitation will be held at the Dexter Church Of Christ, Thursday, April 9, 2009 from 5-8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, April 10, 2009 in the Dexter Church Of Christ with Randy English officiating. Interment will follow in the Chalk Bluff Cemetery.
