Mrs. Connie L. Tippery, 64, of Altoona died Friday evening at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus, after a brief illness. Mrs. Tippery was born in Hooversville, Pa., daughter of the late Vernice Hinish. She married John F. Tippery May 15, 1965, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Altoona. In addition to her husband, she is survived by four daughters and a son: Collene P. Tippery of Altoona, Lisa L. (husband, Brian) Schill of Concord, N.C., John F. (wife, Rachelle) Tippery Jr. of Altoona, Kathleen L. (husband, John III) Watson of Duncansville and Leah J. Tippery of Altoona. Mrs. Tippery also is survived by 10 grandchildren: Amanda, Megan, Matthew, Erin, Allison, Logan, John F. III, Daniel, Grace and Joseph. She was preceded in death by her stepfather, John E. Allison, in 1995; and a brother, Ricky McNally, in 1964. Connie was a member of the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Altoona. She retired in January 2005 as a registered nurse at Altoona Hospital with 23 years of service. Connie was a 1962 graduate of Altoona High School and graduated from Conemaugh Valley Memorial Hospital Nursing School in 1965. She enjoyed her children and grandchildren, shopping, fishing, collectibles, reading, Willie Nelson and her dogs. Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Jones Funeral Home, 1222 13th Ave., where a vigil for the deceased will be celebrated during the visitation. A funeral Mass will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2009, at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Altoona. Committal rites will be held at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery, Altoona. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society, 1837 E. Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, PA 16602.
