"THE REV. GEORGE C. CROMWELL 97, METHODIST MINISTER

The Rev. George Custer Cromwell, a retired Methodist minister who served churches in the Baltimore-Washington area, died of pneumonia Thursday at Asbury Methodist Village in Gaithersburg. He was 97.

Born in McKnightsville, Pa. he was raised in Baltimore and graduated from Dickinson College and Drew Seminary.

Rev.. Cromwell was a minister at churches in Woodlawn, Baltimore, Havre de Grace, Towson, Washington and, for 10 years, at Rockville United Methodist Church. He retired in 1966

His wife of 63 years, the former Lula LeCompte, died in 1988.

Memorial services are planned at 2 p. m. February 28 at Parker Hall in Asbury Village, Gaithersburg, and at 2 p. m. March 1 at Rockville United Methodist Church.

He is survived by two daughters, Ruth Wetzstein of Hebron, and Phyllis Cowan of Portland, Ore.; seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
