Stanley Hughes, 90, a member of the Postville and O'Kay Boards of Education, died Tuesday in Boone County Hospital, Albion.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Highland Evangelical Free Church with the Rev. Thomas Macy officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 2 p.m. at the Gass-Haney Funeral Home and from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. at the church.
Mr. Hughes was born Dec. 1, 1889, near Trenton, son of the late John W. and Judith Ann Williams Hughes. He attended Platte County schools and Humphrey High School. He was married to the late Edith Nansel March 18, 1920, in Columbus.
He farmed northwest of Monroe in Postville and O'Kay until he moved to Columbus in 1959. At the time of death he lived at 3910 13th St. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Highland Park Evangelical Free Church.
He is survived by two sons, Kenneth Hughes of Monroe and Carroll Hughes of Quincy, Ill.; two daughters, Mrs. John (Dorothy) Weber of Monroe and Mrs. Robert (Phyllis) Wareham of Fremont, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Hageman of Lincoln; 11 grandchildren and 14 great grand-children.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife on Feb. 18; one infant grandson; a grandson, Keith Hughes of Monroe; two brothers, Dewitt Hughes of St. Edward and Hayden Hughes of Lincoln and two sisters, Mrs. Eleanor Thomas of Columbus and Margaret Hughes on Lincoln.
