101 year old Weltha Turner of Dowelltown died Wednesday evening at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a cook in the DeKalb County School System for 25 years, and was a member of the Smithville First Baptist Church. The funeral will be held Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. James Williams will officiate and burial will follow in the Salem Cemetery in Liberty. She was preceded in death by her parents, Felix and Frona Smith Garner, her husband, Mike Turner, and one grandchild. Survivors include three sons, Jack Turner of Dowelltown, Mike Turner, Jr. of Cookeville, and Thomas Turner of Smithville. Two daughters, Joann Reeves of Louisville, Kentucky, and Sue Braswell of Cookeville. Eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren also survive. Visitation will be held Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral at 1:00 p.m. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
