Son of Robert Moore McFarland Allison, Sr. and Nancy (Byrd) Allison.

Brother of William Allison, Jesse Byrd Allison, Robert Moore McFarland Allison, Jr., Mary Allison, Eliza Edna Allison, Sarah Allison, Lou Allison, Rufus Allison, Rutha M. Allison, Marea Louise Allison, Edna Allison, Uriah Sherrill "U. S." Allison, and William W. Allison.

Husband of Melvina (Pendergrass) Allison.

Father of Francis C. "Frank" Allison, Derick Allison, James Marion Allison, Dora M. (Allison) [Shoemate] Andrews, Addie (Allison) Humble, Margaret J. "Maggie" (Allison) Heard, David Crockett "Dave" Allison, Ida May Allison, and Ella Allison.

He served in Company H, 1st Tennessee Mounted Volunteers in the Mexican-American War (25 Apr 1846 to 02 Feb 1848). He enlisted for 12 months of duty on 14 Jun 1846 and was honorably discharged from the Army on 31 May 1847 in New Orleans, Orleans Parish, Louisiana.

Note: On the 1860 Census for Bledsoe County, TN, listed in the Robert B. Allison household is a Taylor Allison, age 12. Taylor Allison could not be found on the 1870 Census for Bledsoe County, TN. I'm not sure how Taylor Allison was connected to Robert B. Allison; he may have been a child from a previous marriage, a nephew, or a cousin. Family history tells of one or two of Robert B. Allison's sons moving to Bridgeport, Jackson County, AL. Of course, Taylor could have been in the Civil War based on his date of birth. Also, Taylor could have been his middle name, not his given name.

Robert B. Allison was my 2nd great-grandfather.
