Clair J. Lafferty, 93, formerly of Altoona and Hollidaysburg, died Monday morning at Zimmerman Place, Shrewsbury, PA. He was born in Lilly, son of Martin and Elizabeth (Hagan) Lafferty. He married Hulda M. Sehrer Aug. 29, 1934, in Cresson. She died Feb. 25, 2000, after 65 years of marriage. Survived by two sons: James E. and wife, Connie, of New Freedom, and Charles R. and wife, Dottie, of Hollidaysburg; three granddaughters; and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by an infant sister, Dorothy; and three brothers: Edgar, Melvin and Archie. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg. Mr. Lafferty retired from Amtrak as a conductor June 28, 1977, after 36 years of service. He was a graduate of Cresson High School, Class of 1933. There will be no public visitation. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family at Sorge Funeral Home, Hollidaysburg, by Father Anthony J. Legarski. Committal, St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Cresson.
