Mr. Joseph Francis Reid died at his home in Hollister, Saturday evening, May 14th, at 6 o'clock.
He was for many years afflicted with paralysis and the end came but with a few hours of suffering.
He was born in Palatka, Florida, on January 29th, 1859, being one of the sons of the late R. R. Reid, one of the city's best known and prominent pioneer citizens.
He was a true and faithful believer in the Catholic church from childhood, until death claimed him.
Mr. Reid for a number of years made his home in Hollister and was beloved by all who knew him.
The burial took place in Hollister cemetery Monday morning at 10:30 o'clock, the services being conducted by Rev. S. B. Ross of Interlachen.
He was a devoted husband and father and will be greatly missed by the family circle.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Cora Reid, two daughters, Mrs. Flossie Renfroe of St. Augustine, Mrs. Ava Chesser of Hollister, three sons, Raymond Francis Reid, R. Leonard Reid, Master Joseph Lawrence Reid of Hollister, one sister, Mrs. J. C. Ireland, of Palatka and one brother, Mr. R. R. Reid of Chicago. (Times-Herald Obituary dtd Friday, 27 May 1921.)
