William D. "Buzz" Abbott, 67 of Belpre, Ohio died February 26, 2009. He was born in Parkersburg, WV and was the son of Virginia Eaton Abbott of Belpre and the late William Earl Abbott. He was a member of the Belpre Church of Christ, was in the U.S. Navy for 4 years, worked for the Washington County Sheriffs Department, was a Sgt. on the Belpre Police Department before becoming Police Chief. He was a member of the Faternal Order of Police, the American Legion, had worked as a private Investigator.

Survivors include his wife Rebecca Abbott, his mother, Virginia Abbott of Belpre, 2 daughters, Kelly Loscar and her husband John of Belpre, R. Suzanne Abbott of Columbus and Belpre, Aaron Abbott of Belpre, Adam C. Abbott of Belpre, two sisters, Wanda Childress and her husband John of Belpre, Carolyn Bedilion of Marietta and her son Bob Bedilion of Cincinnati, his granddaughter, Maggie Mamo of Belpre, several nieces and nephews and his beloved dog "Big Dog"

There will be visitation on Saturday from 10 AM till 1 PM at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre. There will be private graveside services at the convenience of the family.
