Mr. Howard Stines, Sr., age 88, of Marion, N.C. went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 2, 2009 at The McDowell Hospital.
Mr. Stines was born in Madison County on June 9, 1920 and was the son of the late John and Mary Davis Stines.
He was a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church and retired from Jack C. James Hosiery Mill.
Preceding Mr. Stines in death are three sons: Johnny Stines, Howard Stines, Jr. and Dewayne Burleson. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Surviving Mr. Stines is his wife, Annie Marie Stines, of the home; five children: Tommy and wife Annette, Randy, Vanessa, Rebecca and husband Roger and Donna and husband Mike; twelve grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, March 5, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Chapel Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Eric Grindstaff officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., one hour prior to the service, at the church.
Interment will be in Chapel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
