Alfred A. Ashburn, 93, Altoona, formerly of San Francisco, died Wednesday at Altoona Hospital. He was born in Altoona, to Harry B. & Edna L. (Peters) Ashburn. Survived by sisters: Margaret E. Woods and Frances L. Walter, both Altoona and brothers: Harry B. Ashburn, Jr., Piqua, OH, and Robert B. Ashburn, Beaver, PA. He was predeceased by sister, Anne Lane. Alfred retired from the Music and Arts Institute of San Francisco, where he taught piano and organ. He was a graduate of Altoona High School; Franklin & Marshall College and the University of California, Berkeley. Mr. Ashburn was a Technical Sergeant, U.S. Army, WWII veteran, serving in the European & Pacific theatres. He was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, where he was organist. Alfred founded the Central Pennsylvania chapter of the American Guild of Organists in 1940. Private visitation and a funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family with the Rev. Jack Hoffer officiating. Interment, Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood. Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Altoona.
