Violet E. Servello, 88, Altoona, died Saturday at The Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg. She was born in Altoona, daughter of George W. and Ruth (Pross) Bickel. She married Albert F. "Abe" Servello Nov. 3, 1941, in Altoona. He preceded her in death Oct. 26, 1996. Surviving are two daughters: Linda L. Cavuoti (Joseph) of Altoona and Darla L. Meadows (Joel) of Hollidaysburg; four grandchildren: Lisa Marie Sechrist, Kristin N. Taylor, Jodi Johnson and Joel C. Meadows II; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Olive Love of Baltimore, MD. Violet was preceded in death by three brothers: John, George and Joseph; two sisters: Catherine and Florence; and a grandson, Joseph A. Cavuoti. She retired in 1981 as an inspector for Tritex Sportswear. She attended St. James Lutheran Church and loved bowling. She was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates fan. Violet loved children, and her face would light up when she was around them. She also enjoyed visits from her canine buddies, Cayman and Saddie. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at Stevens Mortuary, 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009, at Stevens Memorial Chapel, Pastor Betty Landis officiating. Interment at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
