Jim's mother was Martha Jane Tabitha Wall Rierson. She named him after her brothers, two of whom died in the Civil War. Family lore has Martha dying shortly after Jim was born when she fell from a horse. Martha was the daughter of William Wall (#88132341) and Eliza Louisa Pulliam Wall (#88132397). Martha probably died 1873-1874 and may be buried at the old Rierson home place off Friendship Road (next to Friendship Baptist Church) or with her mother and father in William Wall Cemetery off Sydney Drive, off Piney Mountain Road.
