Attorney Charles P. "Pete" Wasovich, 61, of Altoona died Thursday at Cancer Treatment Centers of America, Philadelphia, after a brief illness. He was born in Aliquippa, Pa., son of the late Peter and Joan (Halon) Wasovich. He married the former Terry Crist Aug. 22, 1970, in Johnstown. He is survived by his wife; two sons: Jason W. and wife, Kiersten, of Altoona, and Jonathan P. of Monroeville; and a sister, Sandra Wasovich of Atlanta. Pete was a graduate of Aliquippa High School. He also graduated from Washington & Jefferson College, where he was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity, and University of Toledo Law School. He was an attorney with Wasovich & Mears and also was a Blair County assistant district attorney. He was a member of the Blair County Bar Association. He was a captain in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General's Corps. Pete enjoyed all sports, especially coaching youth football, basketball and baseball. He enjoyed spending time with his family, walking his dog and weekend car washes. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at Stevens Mortuary, 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona. A funeral service will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2009, at Stevens Memorial Chapel by Pastor Frank Miller. Interment at Calvary Cemetery. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Monica's Heart Greyhound Adoption, 1408 Hamilton Lane, Altoona, PA 16602, or to the charity of your choice.
