Sally Bernice Harvey Newton, age 94, passed away peacefully at Consulate Health Care of Tallahassee, on October 16, 2011.
She was a lifelong resident of Tallahassee. She is predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Paul D. "Buck" Newton and her parents, Oscar and Laura Harvey of Tallahassee.
Bernice served in the U. S. Navy from November 1944 until July 1946 during World War II and returned to Tallahassee and worked for the Florida Department of Commerce, retiring after 30 years of service. She also was a faithful member of the local Chapter of Eastern Star for many years.
Bernice was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church and also Georgia Belle Church where she resided for several years prior to becoming ill.
Funeral services are under the direction of Abby Funeral Home, and graveside services will be held at Tallahassee Memory Gardens at 11:00 AM Wednesday, October 19, 2011.
