Alice Evelyn "Lally" (Wineland) Meadows, 90, beloved and loving wife, mother and grandmother, died Tuesday at the Presbyterian Village at Hollidaysburg after an extended illness. She was born in Martinsburg and was the eldest child of George B. and Josephine (Hershberger) Wineland. She married Richard S. Meadows Sept. 26, 1936. They were joyfully together until his passing July 30, 2006. Both were graduates of Morrisons Cove High School. Surviving are four daughters: Bonnie Robeson and husband, Joseph, of Altoona, Jane Meadows of Arlington, Va., Janet Meadows Brumbaugh and husband, Elliott, of Arlington, Va., and JoEllen Meadows Shiffman and husband, J. Fred, of Alexandria, Va.; a son, Dex Wineland Meadows and wife, Susan T., of Duncansville; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a brother, George Hershberger Wineland; and a sister, Lucille (Wineland) Honsaker. She was preceded in death by a son, Hunt Meadows; and a sister, Lois (Wineland) Brown. Mrs. Meadows was a member of Hollidaysburg Church of the Brethren, where she served many years as a deaconess, teacher, choir director, member of the choir, organist and pianist. She began studying piano at age 6 and shared her extraordinary musical gift through voice and piano in performance and accompaniment throughout her life. Friends will be received from 6-9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, 2009, and 10-11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009, at Hollidaysburg Church of the Brethren, 1028 Penn St. A service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, at the church, led by Pastor Marlys Hershberger.
