Frank D. Hite, age 91, formerly of 1614 S. Forge Road, Palmyra, died Saturday, February 7, 2009 at the M.S. Hershey Medical Center. He was a resident of Twin Oaks Nursing Home in Campbelltown. He was the husband of the late Frances E. Wert Hite. He was born on February 4, 1918, in Sand Beach, Dauphin County, to Franklin J. and Hannah Poteiger Hite. He retired in 1980 from Hershey Foods from the wrapping department. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, receiving the Purple Heart, the Good Conduct Ribbon, the European African Middle Eastern Ribbon with one battle star, the World War II Victory Medal, and the American Theatre Ribbon. He enjoyed gardening. Surviving are his children, James of Palmyra, Robert Sr., husband of Brenda of Jonestown, Jennie, wife of Robert Dimeler of Palmyra, Margie Boughter of Ohio; 16 grandchildren; 14 greatgrandchildren; a half brother, Harry Krone of York County. He was preceded in death by his four sons, Franklin Jr., Edward, George and Charles Hite; and his sister, Sylvia Blake; and brother James Hite. Relatives and friends are invited for a time of viewing on Tuesday, February 10, 2009, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the Rothermel Funeral Home Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra, followed by his funeral at 10:30 with Pastor Douglas Pyszka officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Park.
