Double Rites Held For Mother, Child Friday Afternoon

Double rites for Mrs. Angie Vickers and her infant daughter were held from the Arnie Church near Mora Friday afternoon with the Rev. Henry Sears officiating. Interment followed in the Arnie cemetery.

Mrs. Vickers passed away at the Douglas hospital early last Thursday morning after a brief illness. She was 21 years of age and was the daughter of Luther and Mae Merchant Carmichael of Atkinson County.

Survivors include the husband, Henry Floyd Vickers; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Luther Carmichael, Alapaha; two sons, Floyd and James Kenneth Vickers, Kirkland; two brothers, James and Densel Carmichael, Alapaha and five sisters: Mrs. Lelia Cribb, Alapaha, Mrs. Maydell Horten, Alapaha, Merle, Cathleen, and Elmeree Carmichael, all of Alapaha.

Active pallbearers were Marshall Corbitt, Edsil Vickers, Jeff Vickers, J.C. Rowe, R.J. Merchant, and Collan Merchant.

An honorary escort was composed of C.W. Flanders, Roy Aldridge, Willard O'Steen, Lawson O'Steen, Henry McClendon and Jim Aldridge.

Special music was rendered at the rites by a quartet composed of Carlos Grantham, Hoke Thompson, T.J. Spivey and Willard Jones.

The Sims Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
