Mr. John Paulk of Atkinson county, who was often called Fisherman John Paulk, died at his home five miles this side of Willacoochee Sunday afternoon. He had been in very poor health several years and for a month had been confined to his room. He was buried at Arnie church Monday afternoon with Masonic honors. A large crowd of friends and relatives from Douglas attended his funeral.

Mr. Paulk was the son of the late Henry L. Paulk and lived at his father's home place. His mother, who before her marriage, was Miss Fannie Peterson, is still living. In early manhood he was married to Miss Mattie Byrd of this county, and she and five children survive him.

Mr. Paulk was widely known in this section and was related to many people in this and adjoining counties. He had several brothers and sisters, Mrs. William Vickers of this city being a sister.
