Third son of Simeon and Matilda, he was born on 11 Jun 1829 in Louisiana and died on 09 Oct 1883 Austell, Cobb, GA. Some Records have birthplace as Louisiana and then on his son John Simeon Strickland's death certificate it lists his father's birthplace as Gwinnett Co. That is where Simeon's family is from.
On 6 Jul 1851, he married Mary Frances Perkerson, daughter of John Samuel Perkerson (1806-1862) and Martha Frances Roseberry (1806-1873). Mary was born on 29 Nov 1830 in DeKalb County, Georgia and died on 4 Dec 1924 in Austell, Cobb, Ga.
In 1850, when William was 21, he is on the census as a farmer with his father. He had moved to Cobb County – Coxes District.

Gravesite Details

Originally buried on farm on Clay Road where the Sweetwater Condos are located. He was later moved to Rose Hill Cemetery in Austell. Might explain why his tombstone looks newer than it should. And explain why the Strickland plot is further back
