Mortimer's obituary appeared in the March 7, 1970 issue of the Wilmington News, Wilmington, New Hanover County, North Carolina:

"Mortimer S. Neblett
Mortimer Sterling Neblett, of 1725 County Club Road died Friday at his home after a sudden illness.

He was born in Petersburg, VA., on April 1, 1913 and was the son of the late Bernard and Grace Thomson Neblett. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Mr. Neblett was owner and operator of the Industrial Coating and Maintenance Co., a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1074, Carolina Yacht Club, Wilmington Navy League, Cape Fear County Club and was active in the North Carolina Azalea Festival.

Surviving are his widow, Elizabeth O'Crowley Neblett of the home; a son, Mortimer Sterling Neblett, Jr. of New York City; two daughters, Mrs. Worthington Bowie Houghton Jr. of Newport Beach, Calif., and Miss Leslie Morrow Neblett of Atlanta, Ga.; two brothers, Henry Gilbert Neblett of Norfolk, Va., and Bernard Graves Neblett Jr. of Buena Park, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Campbell Hunter, of Norfolk, Va., and Mrs. Ralph Nardella, Fair Lawn, N. J., and one grandson.

Requiem Mass will be conducted Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock in St. Mary's Catholic Church by the Rev. James R. Jones.

Recitation of the Rosary will be said Saturday, 7 p.m. in the Chapel of Andrews Mortuary by Father Jones."
