Shirley A. Maier, 79, Altoona, died Monday at Hollidaysburg Veterans Home. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Norbert and Eunette A. (Sisk) Gibney. She married Michael A. Maier Sept. 2, 1950, in Altoona. Surviving are her husband; three sons: Michael Maier (Loane) of Hollidaysburg, and Jeff Maier (Jan) and Mark Maier (Laura), all of Altoona; four daughters: Karen Pleva (Robert) and Sharon Albarano (Robert), all of Duncansville, Linda Repko (Larry) of Altoona and Sandra Steiner (John) of Pittsburgh; 15 grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Gibney. She was predeceased by a brother, Norbert Gibney, and sisters: Marge Hughes, Marie Gority and Patricia Stimer. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Mrs. Maier was a homemaker and a 1947 graduate of Altoona High School. She enjoyed bowling, pinochle, shopping and playing games with her grandchildren. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Stevens Mortuary, 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church by Monsignor Stanley Carson. Committal, Calvary Cemetery.
