Services for Thelma Chapman Buckley, age 86 of Friendswood, Texas, formerly of Urania, will be held at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, October 14, 2007 for the New Ouachita Baptist Church in Enterprise, with Rev. Jeff Robinson officiating. Interment will follow in the Rosefield Cemetery in Rosefield under the direction of Riser Funeral Home of Columbia.
Mrs. Buckley was born in Enterprise on April 20, 1921 to the union of Amos Elisha and Ruth Sones Chapman and died Wednesday, October 10, 2007 at the Regency Village in Webster, Texas.
She was a LSU graduate and a retired school teacher having taught school in Catahoula, Terrebonne and Calcasieu Parishes. She was a member of the Urania Baptist Church in Urania.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband: Robert Lee Buckley, and her siblings: Virgil Chapman, Eleanor C. Poche, Amos Edison Chapman, Herbert Chapman.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law: Rhoda and Benjamin Rogers of Friendswood, Texas, Rachel and Darryl Lloyd of Spring Branch, Texas, her son and daughter-in-law: Stephen and Johnnie Buckley of Loudon, Tennessee, her grandchildren: Kristin Rogers Lightfoot, Jonathan L. Rogers, Byron Buckley, Julie B. Buck, Christopher Buckley, Jill Jackson, Sarah McMahan and Jennifer Lloyd, her granddaughter: Shelby Lightfoot and her sisters: Edna C. Simpson of Zachary, Nell C. Lewis of Columbia, Vera C. Harris of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Marcia C. Shafer of Smith, Alabama.
Pallbearers will be Christopher Buckley, Jonathan Rogers, Byron Buckley, Jim Jackson, Jessie Ainsworth and Derek Ainsworth.
Visitation will be Saturday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Riser Funeral Home, 7131 Hwy 165, Columbia.
