Mrs. Sibyl Ring Whitt, 89, resident of 3310 Longview Dr. died Monday at the residence of her daughter, Linda Tilley.
Mrs. Whitt was born July 13, 1918 in Surry County a daughter of Arthur and Maggie Ring.
She had been a resident of High Point most of her life and was a retired employee of Drexel- Heritage Furniture Industries Inc where she worked for 40 years. She was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church and Sunday School in Thomasville. At Copeland High School in Surry County she was an outstanding basketball player and participated in high jump on the track team.
She was married to James Hubert Whitt who preceded her in death on March 5, 1961.
Surviving are 1 daughter; Mrs. Linda Tilley and husband Ron of Trinity and 1 son; Aubrey Whitt and wife Anne of Trinity; 1 granddaughter; Kathy Whitt and 3 sisters; Mrs. Bonnie Harper, Mrs. Betsy Chatham and Mrs. Violet Purcell.
Mrs. Whitt was preceded in death by a grandson Rodney Jones.
Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday at 2:00 pm from the Chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale by the Rev. Gary Myers. Interment will follow in the Floral Garden Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7 until 9 pm at the funeral home and other times at the home of the daughter, 4583 Virginia Ct, Trinity.
