Roger Johnson took his last dirt bike ride and completed his life's journey on January 11, 2009, in Santa Barbara, California.

Roger was born November 23, 1942, to Norman and Elsie Johnson of Ada, Wisconsin.

He proudly served with honors in the United States Army from 1960–1964.

In 1974, Roger moved to Santa Barbara, California, a place he loved, considered it paradise, and called it home. He couldn't imagine living anywhere else in the world. Roger was a friend to everyone and touched many lives in such special ways; you couldn't go anywhere without him knowing someone.

Roger loved and adored his wife, children, and grandchildren. He enjoyed motorcycle and dirt bike riding, was a devoted Wisconsin Green Bay Packers fan, loved watching his grandsons, Alexander and Anthony play football, and the highlight of his year was his annual Father's Day trip with his son, Todd, and his grandsons, Brendan and Zachary.

Roger was especially proud and fond of the men and women of Santa Barbara's police department. For the past 9 years, Roger would host, cook, and serve them his world famous Bratwurst on the 4th of July. His respect and admiration for the police force was known to all his family and friends that the family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Santa Barbara Police Officers Association, Roger Johnson Memorial Fund.

He is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Dolores Morelli Johnson; brother, Carl (Marge) Johnson; daughter, Terri (Mark) Stemen; son, Todd (Marla) Johnson; Terri and Todd's mother, Mary Johnson; daughters Cynthia Rubio and Charlene (Ruben) Rodriguez. Grandchildren, Elizabeth Mary Kristin and Hannah Rose Marie Stemen; Alexander and Anthony Rodriguez; Alexis and Leanna Romero; Brendan, Zachary, Seth and Aaron Johnson. Aunt Orabel Swanson; nephews, Kelly and Tim (Mindy) Johnson and cousin, Simone (Boots) and "Jake" Jacobs.

Roger will be laid to rest where he will join his father Norman, mother Elsie and daughter Kristin.

Roger's family is deeply grateful and indebted to his three friends who were dirt bike riding with him that day, as well as two strangers who valiantly tried to resuscitate him back to life. They will always be considered his guardian angels.

A memorial service will be held in Wisconsin for all his friends and family in the spring of 2009.

Roger was a loving husband, father, grandpa, brother, uncle and friend who will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him. His laughter and great big hugs will be missed.
