BARTON FUNERAL HELD AT HEATH
FATHER OF CONTRACTORS, RETIRED ALATEX AIDE, DIED ON JANUARY 5TH

Furman David "Furm" Barton, 70, member of a prominent Covington County family, died in a local hospital, Thursday morning, January 5, after a short illness.
Mr. Barton was the father of three local contractors, Gene, Lawrence and Fletcher Barton. A retired Alatex employee, Mr. Barton had lived all his life in the Heath Community. He was married to the former Ruth Fletcher, who died in 1947.
Funeral services were held at Heath with Rev. Billy Lucas, Rev, Alfred Ikner and Rev. Tommy Karn officiating. Music was by a mixed choir from Gantt, Mt. Pisgah, and Bethany Baptist Churches, accompanied by Mrs.Billy Lucas. Burial was in the church cemetery with Foreman's in charge of arrangements.

Survivors, in addition to his three Andalusia sons, are two other sons, Jerry Barton, Enterprise; Ray Barton, Dothan; one daughter, Mrs. Jack Kelley, RFD 1, Dozier; one brother, Tommy Barton, RFD 6, Andalusia; three sisters, Mrs. J.A. Tadlock, Mrs. Millard Fletcher and Mrs. Lonzo Elmore, all of RFD 6, Andalusia; fifteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Jack Floyd, Farris Bryars, Harold Gantt, Grady Page, Ray Lambert, and Ed Senn.
