George William Oldvader, 89, of Brunswick, died at his home on Friday, April 8, 2005.
He was born April 1, 1916 at Dalton, the son of F. H. and Annie Fay Hackley Oldvader. He served in the U. S. Army during WWII and his armored tank division was one of the first to land on Normandy when the Allies invaded France against Germany in June of 1944. He was a life-long farmer.
Mr. Oldvader was a member of the Brunswick Baptist Church, the American Legion Rucker-McAllister Post #7 of Brunswick, a 50-year member of the Warren Masonic Lodge #74.
Survivors include a sister, Agnes Wolf Stahl of Keytesville; two brothers, Roy Lee Oldvader of Brunswick and Norris Wayne Oldvader of Raytown; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Marie Blunk and Mildred Stahl; one infant brother and one infant sister.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 13, 2005.
Burial: Elliott Grove Cemetery.
