Frank H. Abbott, age 100 of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, formerly of Williamston, Michigan, died Friday, October 6, 2006 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Abbott and his wife, Marie Abbott moved to Missouri in September of 2003 to live with their great-nephew and great-niece, Steve and Patty Boyers.

"Uncle Frank" was born January 9, 1906 in rural Fowlerville, Michigan. He was a life-long resident of Michigan. After having served in World War II, he returned to his native Michigan to resume his duties with the U.S. Postal Service. He retired from there in 1964, having carried mail in downtown Detroit for 37 years. Not ready to quit work, he held a position with Detroit Edison until the age of 65.

On October 12, 1946, he married Katie Marie White. She preceded him in death on June 23, 2004. He was also preceded in death by his father, Fred K. Abbott, his mother, Clarinda Maycock Abbott and his sister, Ruth Abbott.

Survivors include his great-nephew and niece, Steve and Patty Boyers, of Poplar Bluff, three great-nieces, Cindy Boyers, Michelle Boyers Dugas and husband Stanley D. Dugas, all of Poplar Bluff and Lavah Boyers-Lowe of Ponca City, OK; four great-great nephews, Matthew R. Boyers, Drake A. Dugas, Andrew D. Dugas and Daine S. Dugas, all of Poplar Bluff. Also surviving is one son, Lynn Abbott, of Green Bay, WS; three grandchildren, Steve Abbott and wife Jean, Kenneth Abbott, of Minnesota and Jennifer Abbott of Washington, DC.

Uncle Frank was a life member and past commander of the VFW, Fowlerville, MI Post, the Odd Fellows Lodge, of Dearborn, MI and a life member of the National Letter Carriers Association. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church, in Poplar Bluff.

Visitation will be from 6 – 8 p.m. Sunday, October 8, 2006 at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. A short visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 10, 2006 followed by the funeral at 11:00 a.m. at the Williamston United Methodist Church, in Williamston, MI, with the Rev. Dean Prentiss officiating. A lunch will be provided by the church. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in the Ottowa Park Cemetery in Clarkston, MI with full military honors.

Memorials may be made to the "Shoeboxes for Christ Fund", at First Baptist Church, 551 No. Westwood Blvd., Poplar Bluff, MO 63901.
