Five Commonwealth airmen lost their lives when two Airspeed Oxford aircraft (X6813 and V3976) collided on the aerodrome runway at RAF Carew Cheriton. One Oxford was landing when it crashed into the other aircraft which was taxiing into position.
The five airmen who perished in this accident were-
RAFVR Sergeant Allan Charles TAYLOR,
RCAF Warrant Officer Wilfred James LOUDEN,
RAF Pilot Officer Herbert Glyn PRICE,
RAF Sergeant Kenneth James MAY and
RAF Warrant Officer Frank LESLIE.
