Bennie H. Wotipka, 79, of Highlands, Texas passed away on Monday January 5, 2009. Bennie was born on September 3, 1929 in Fayette County, Texas to the late Mr. and Mrs. Edward Wotipka.

Bennie served in the United States Army during the Korean War and has been a resident of Highlands for more than 40 years. He was the former manager of Ronnie's Grocery and later Big Chief, and retired from Austin Industries. He was a past Election Judge for Harris County and a member of the Highlands Rotary Club, serving as president in 1981 and 1983. He loved to hunt, garden and woodwork and will be fondly remembered and missed by all who knew him.

Bennie is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Carrie Wotipka, brothers, Leo and Edwin Wotipka, and sisters, Edna Liska, Lillie Buchanan, and Bessie Reynolds. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Kathryn Wotipka, sons, Eddie Wotipka and his wife Karen of Baytown, and Greg Wotipka of Highlands, daughters, Karen Whitehead and husband Darwin of Boyd, TX, and Linda Morrison and husband Tom of Queen Creek, AZ, grandchildren, Zachary, Rachel, Bradley, and Eric Wotipka, Madison and Mistian Whitehead, and Cassidy and Keegan Morrison. Bennie is also survived by his brothers, Adolph Tydlacka of Highlands and Edgar Wotipka and wife Evelyn of Highlands, sister-in-law Nina Wotipka of Highlands, brother-in-law Edward Lilley of Morgantown, WV, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, January 7, 2009 from 4-8PM at Sterling-White Funeral Home 11011 Crosby-Lynchburg Rd. Highlands, TX 77562. Funeral Services are scheduled for Thursday, January 8, 2009 10AM at Sterling-White. Burial will follow in Sterling-White Cemetery.
