William Craig Winterstein, 50, Pinecroft, Altoona, died Wednesday at his home after an extended illness. He was born in Cumberland, Md., son of James Winterstein and Dorothy (Triplet) Manga. His father preceded him in death. He married Nora J. Schmittle June 27, 1986, in Snow Hill, Md. Surviving are his wife of Altoona; a stepdaughter, Tonia McConnell of Houston, Texas; two stepsons: Jerry Snyder of Fayetteville, N.C., now serving in Iraq, and Brad Snyder of Bellwood; seven grandchildren: Leah Snyder, Gabriella Polito, Danny Polito, Sarah Snyder, Emily Snyder, Ashlyn Snyder and Amyra Snyder; his mother, Dorothy Manga and stepfather, Bob Manga; a brother, Steve Winterstein of Tipton; a niece, Alicia Lewis; and a nephew, Blaze Winterstein. He attended Faith Bible Church, Bellwood. Mr. Winterstein was employed by the Schwan Food Co. He was a 1976 graduate of Bellwood High School. Mr. Winterstein enjoyed NASCAR racing, Steelers football, boating, fishing and gardening. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 5, 2009, and 11 a.m. to the noon time of the funeral service Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., at Alto Reste Park Cemetery, with Pastor Jim Ghanayem officiating. Interment at Alto Reste Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Blair Unit, American Cancer Society or Faith Bible Church, Bellwood, PA.
