Dorothy Heffernan, 80, of Baytown, passed away on Sunday, December 21, 2008, at a hospital in Houston, following a brief illness. She was born in Houston on February 8, 1928, to James Weldon Eaves and Ruth Robertson. At the age of 14, Dorothy and her family moved to the Coady community of Baytown and she was a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School. While at Lee, she met her sweetheart, future husband and business partner, Jimmy Heffernan, and they married on March 29, 1947. In 1948, Dorothy and Jimmy founded Jimmy's Garage, now known at Jimmy's Paint & Body. She oversaw the administrative side of Jimmy's until 1990, when she retired from the family business. She and her family enjoyed spending time at the family ranch, Rancho De Dorthea, in Hondo, Texas. Dorothy always put her family first, but she also enjoyed playing Skip-Bo and 42 with her friends at Shady Creek Apartments where she spend the last seven years of her life.

Preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Jimmy, and her sister, Margie Siever, Dorothy is survived by a son, James C. Heffernan, of Houston; three daughters, Glenda Trawhon and husband, Colbert, of Baytown, Cindy Smith and Lisa Armstrong and husband, Terry, all of Crosby; six grandchildren, Jake Armstrong, Donnie Smith, Misty Radicioni, Jean-Colbert Trawhon, Todd Trawhon, and Troy Trawhon; 12 great grandchildren, McKenzie, Drake, Claire, Conner, Pate Trawhon, Lacy Trawhon, Brock, Jenna and Lauren Radicioni, Jonathan and Larissa Eversoll and Trey Smith; brother, J.W. Eaves and wife, Lillian of Navasota, TX; and sister, Nancy Johnson and husband, Wade of Pasadena; and numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family members.

Her family will receive friends at Crespo & Jirrels Funeral home beginning noon, Friday, December 26, 2008. Funeral service will be Friday at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Crespo & Jirrels, Roger Harp officiating. Interment will follow at White Cemetery in Highlands. Honoring the family as pallbearers will be, Jake Armstrong, Colbert Trawhon, Jean-Colbert Trawhon, Larry Milner, Terry Armstrong, and Hansel Watson.
