Charles Edward Johnson, 86, of Channelview, Texas passed away Saturday, December 20, 2008 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born to William Marvin and Lucy Ozelle Johnson on July 11, 1922 in Burnsville, Mississippi. Charles was a loving and devoted family man. On September 13, 1941 he married the woman that he was hopelessly in love with, Ruby, and started his family. After moving to many different states, he and Ruby made their home here in Texas. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was known for his ability to make extraordinary creations from wood. He was also a master auto mechanic and cook. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Johnnie Cash; and granddaughter, Rebecca Lynn Collins. He is survived by his loving wife of over 67 years, Ruby Johnson; daughters, Marilyn Henderson and husband Frank of Lynchburg, Ann Stockwell and husband Tommy of Highlands, and Gale Parker and husband Clyde of Mount Pleasant; sons, Charles Gary Johnson and wife Peggy of Hull and Charles Edward Johnson, Jr. and wife Lisa of Houston; sister, Lola Conklin; brothers, J.C. Johnson and Max Johnson; twelve grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous more relatives and close friends.

Visitation for Charles will be from five until eight o'clock in the evening, Friday, December 26 at Sterling-White Funeral Home. A service of remembrance will be held at two o'clock in the afternoon, Saturday, December 27 at Sterling-White Funeral Home with interment to follow in Sterling-White Cemetery.
