Also surviving are a son, David Michael (Phyllis) Ackley; a daughter, Sue (Darrell) Lechner, both of Chillicothe; 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; a daughter-in-law, Janet Ackley; sister-in-law, Carolyn Ackley, both of Chillicothe; many friends including special friends, Tom and Jane Garrett, Robert and Shelby Ball, Dwayne Kistler, all of Chillicothe, and Ron and Jan Holsinger, of Waverly; nieces, Mary Ellen (Tony) Hughes, of Circleville, and Betty (Phil) Putnam, of Frankfort; and a nephew, Billy Neal, of Stoutsville, Ohio. He was predeceased by a son, Larry F. Ackley; sisters, Marie Neal and Daisy Gillfillan; and a brother, James Ackley.
Arthur retired from Mead Research, where he had worked for 34 years, and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of Ross County Senior Citizens, the Mead Foreman's Club, AARP, a lifetime member of AMVETS Post #4 and had served as President for many years of Ross County REACT. He was an avid bowler.
Services were entrusted to Ware Funeral Home of Chillicothe, Ohio.
