David, of Port Neches, passed away on Friday at Christus St. Mary Hospital in Port Arthur.
A native of Beaumont he had lived in Port Neches since 1974.
He had served his country in the U.S. Air Force as a pilot.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Port Neches. He retired from Port Neches-Groves ISD as a Principal at Groves Elementary and had served on the Board of MCT Credit Union for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
Survivors include his wife of forty four years, Nida Garrett; son, David L Garrett; grandson, Matthew David Garrett; a cousin, Leonard Carey and family and friends.
