Fern died in a automobile accident. She was in the auto with her husband, Ed Edwards and her children. They were driving home to Port St. Joe, Florida on Hwy. 71 between Wewahitchka and White City, Florida. It was a foggy night and Ed was driving. Due to the fog he did not see that there was a wrecker in the road pulling a car from the ditch. Ed swerved and lost control of the car. Fern was thrown from the car and died. There was others injured, but not fatally.
Fern was a beautiful, kind lady. My husband has shared his memories of her with me. He grew up with Fern's children. He has spoken so kindly of her. She was also a distant cousin of mine, but I never did get to meet her.
