A lifelong resident of Beaumont, he was the owner/operator of Braud Insurance Company, where he was the first CPCU of Insurance in Beaumont.
He was a 1947 graduate of the University of Texas, earning a B.B.A. in Insurance and became a lifetime supporter of the Longhorns. He was also proud to have been an Eagle Scout and a captain in the Merchant Marines during World War II.
He was a loving father who became a widower at a young age, raising his four children alone.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1968, Betty Ruth Braud; son, Mark Braud; and brother, James Braud.
Survivors include his three daughters, Beverly Chesnut and her husband Allan, Barbara Vaughn and her husband John and Brenda Gilroy and her husband John; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
