Mars Hill - Annie Hensley Cody, 80, of 1174 Long Branch Road, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, December 16, 2008. She was a native of Madison County and the daughter of the late Elizie and Ethel Blankenship Hensley and was also preceded in death by her husband Fred V. Cody. Annie had worked at Mills Manufacturing and Micro Switch. She enjoyed cooking and had fed many family and friends.
Surviving are her daughters, Wilma C. Coates and husband, Lloyd, of Alexander, Janet C. Kindley and Teresa Fender, both of Mars Hill; sons, Bruce Coleman Cody and wife, Dianne and Warren Cody, all of Mars Hill; sister, Eula Whitt and husband, Clive Whitt, of Marshall; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two nieces and host of family and friends.
A celebration of Annie's life will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, December 19, 2008, at Laurel Bend Baptist Church, where she was a member. The Revs. Clayton Casteel, Eb Jenkins, and Jerry Shelton will officiate. The graveside service will be held following the service at Upper Laurel Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by the Rev. Cline Hensley Jr. Serving as pallbearers will be Alan Coates, Dwight, Bruce, Bobby and Kevin Cody, Jason and Phil Murray and R. S. Arrington. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Blue Ridge Funeral Service, Mars Hill.
