Christine Marie Angell (Flickner), age 48, passed on to her eternal home surrounded by her family and friends at her home after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
Christine was born Oct. 17, 1956, in Baraboo, the daughter of John and Carol Flickner, both of whom are deceased. Carol remarried Wayne Sloggy, who helped raise Christine until her mother's death. Christine married James W. Angell on April 22, 1978, in Portage. They divorced Oct. 26, 1982. Christine loved to play bingo, crochet, listen to music, camp and spend time with her first granddaughter. She also valued the time she spent with her very special friends, the Cottonwood Crew. Christine worked her whole life starting at 14 picking mint. For the last 18 years she worked at Wisconsin Physicians Service (WPS) in the Medicare Division, and truly loved her job and co-workers. She was so grateful to have a job. She also attended MATC twice to received two degrees, one as a clerk typist and the most recent one a medical coding specialist. Christine donated to the United Way of Dane County to support the Big Brothers program and cerebral palsy.
Christine is survived by her three sons, Jeremiah (Melissa) Angell, Portage, Justin Angell, Portage, and Ryan Angell, Rio; her three sisters, Linda (John) Millard, Montello, Vicky Flickner, Florida, Tammy (Scott) Benson, Portage; her one brother, Matthew (Barb) Flickner, Montello; one uncle, Ronald Elmer Cook, Portage, and stepfather, Wayne Sloggy, Pardeeville. She is also survived by one very special granddaughter, Hailey Sue Angell; six nieces and two nephews; eight great-nieces and nephews; cousins; and many dear friends all of whom she loved very dearly.
A very special thanks to the REM staff, Kaylen Hagen, and Frances Smith for their years of love and personal care of her special boy, Ryan, and his continued care.
A very special thanks to her whole family for being there, her minister Carolyn Kennedy, all her co-workers and friends from WPS, Dr. Elizabeth Strabel, Portage Clinic, Home Health United Hospice, Dr. Diggs, Lisa Peronto, and Lisa Rambaldo, Dean Clinic, for all the care and support throughout this very difficult time.
Her husband, James Angell, preceded her in death on Aug. 2, 1983, and also her mother, Carol Sloggy, who she missed very much, on May 14, 1994.
Burial was in Pacific Cemetery.
