Mrs. Berger, 94, of St. Cloud, died Thursday (Dec. 11, 2008) at St. Benedict's Senior Community, St. Cloud.
Frances Krzisnik was born Oct. 21, 1914, and married Urban Berger on June 5, 1943, in Clear Lake, where they farmed for 53 years. Mrs. Berger earned degrees in education from the University of Minnesota-Duluth and St. Cloud State University and taught high school and elementary classes in the Clear Lake and St. Cloud school districts. She moved to St. Benedict's Senior Community in 1998. She was a member of St. Marcus Catholic Church and was an active volunteer in the church and the community. She enjoyed reading, gardening, quilting, civic involvement and fitness.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Wellik of Rochester and Linda (David) Wintz of Mankato; a brother, Joe Krzisnik of Eagan; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, four brothers and a sister.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Clear Lake and one hour prior to the services Thursday at the church. Parish prayers will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials are preferred to St. Benedict's Senior Community or Catholic Charities.
