CROSBY - William E. Day, 85, died Monday, Dec. 8, 2008.

Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Fairview Cemetery in Memphis by Hughs Funeral Home of Memphis.

William was born June 26, 1923, in Amarillo to the late Mr. and Mrs. Lester Day. William was a graduate of Amarillo High School and West Texas State University. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force, achieving the rank of sergeant. Prior to retirement, William was a district director with the Texas Employment Division. After retirement William and his wife traveled the country in their RV and then settled in Crosby in 1995.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Naomi Ables Day; his parents, Lester and Sarah Morrison Day; and a sister.

Survivors include three sons, William M. Day and wife Suzanne of Crosby, Edgar A. Day and wife Karen of Sentinel, Wyo., and Danny R. Day and wife Betty of Dallas; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ted Day and wife Jean of Knoxville, Tenn.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Sterling-White Funeral Home in Highlands. A second day of visitation will be Saturday at the funeral home in Memphis.
