He moved to Austin when was a freshman in high school and returned to Beaumont a year ago. He was a member of The Texans service organization and was voted the most popular boy in his senior year at Crockett High School. He attended Southwest University in San Marcos.

Bevis' career in the food business began when he was a junior at Crocket High School, making barbeque for The County Line On-the-Hill. He became a manager for The County Line and traveled to Houston, Albuquerque, and San Antonio to help open restaurants in those cities. He was also the manager of Haagen Das Ice Cream Shop on "The Drag" in Austin. Bevis later became regional manager of Southwest Food Services in Houston. He also became a waiter, serving at The Olive Garden, The Filling Station and Threadgills's in Austin and at Los Tios in Houston.

He was preceded in death by his father, K.O. Richardson; brother, Jeffrey Day Richardson; paternal grandparents, Bevis Ogden and Katherine Hanks Richardson; and maternal grandparents, Reverend Leon and Ruby Tatum Day.

Survivors include his mother, Ruth Richardson; sister and brother-in-law, Ruby Leah and Robert Morgan; nieces, Elisabeth Richardson and Maggie Romine and her two children, Rhiannon and James Neal; numerous aunts, cousins and a host of friends; his very special friends are the entire Paul Palmer family; Jill Haralson; and Jerome Tinzer.
