ARMCIE EVE WHISENHUNT 1924-1997

Son of William Armcie Whisenhunt & Pernecie A. Young; he was brother of Rulee Eugene and James Earl Whisenhunt. All are buried in Arlington.

Armcie was born feet first on Christmas Eve 1924 and he passed away on Halloween day 1997. It would appear that his soul knew how to make an entrance and an exit (smile). He passed away shortly after arriving home and was simply sitting in a chair in the main room of the house. When Armcie was born on Christmas Eve, the family all suggested that he be called "Armcie Eve" because of it. So they did. His first name came from his father and I believe it was short for "Armistead". [Some where way back, there was an ancestor named "Armistead" and more likely than not, that's where the name originated. I've seen it one other time during my research and it was in the Green family line--Armcie Sr's mother's folks].

Although, he came close to it once... Armcie never married. Or had any children of his own. He lived with his mother, Pernece A. Whisenhunt up to her death in 1977. He looked after her and when she was gone, he started looking after his sister, Almer E. Barrick. He was a hardworking, kind, generous and loving man.

He had some interest in his heritage and would accompany his brother, Lavon, on regular trips to the Whisenhunt and Young family reunions. I assured him that I'd keep digging until I found out where our folks came from. That was before I discovered the internet. I wish I could tell him that the Young family was part Cherokee Indian, the Whisenhunt family came from Germany & Switzerland, and about the Green family.

I broke my arm when I was a young girl and it was Uncle Armcie who came to my rescue and took me to the hospital to get it set. He made me feel so much better. In 1989, I had the honor of fixing him a birthday cake while I was in Oklahoma. I think it made him feel special. And that was the intention.

And on the personal side, Uncle Armcie was a gardener for a an OKC Hospital. He was quite fond of an old TV program called Charlie's Angels. I'm not sure of which angel was his favorite... But I don't think it really mattered. They were all special to him. And Armcie was special too.

Gravesite Details

Armcie is buried near the other Whisenhunts buried at Arlington. However, he was placed just across the street from them. I do not have the exact plot/lot location. I just know he's buried close to the other Whisenhunts.
