The Dietz family came to the United States in 1902 and settled in Rusell County, Kansas. On 9 November 1911, she married David H. Bender at the Bender Hill Church. They were the parents of six children.
David and Mary were farmers in the Bender Hill neighborhood for many years. They retired from farming in 1947 and moved to Russell where they made their home at 857 East Third Street.
She was survived by her husband, two daughters, four sons, one sister, two brothers and 13 grandchildren.
The funeral was held at the Bender Hill community's Trinity Lutheran Church on 4 November 1962 with Reverend Otto Mattias officiating.
